Founded 2007, the Peace and Development Foundation-Africa (PDF-Africa) came out of the need to transform a culture of violence in the areas of operation into one of non-violence and reconciliation. PDF-Africa also aims to contribute to environmental conservation as a way of peaceful living with communities’ surroundings and address human-animal conflicts that exist in areas near National Game Parks and Game reserves.
Our Vision: “A Reconciled, Developed Harmonious Society and Ecosystem”
Our Mission: “Building Sustainable Peace through promoting a culture of Non-violence and Reconciliation”
Principles: Empowerment, Participation, Gender equity, Conflict sensitivity, Non-Discrimination, Networking
The organizational Structure
The organisation is membership; hence its highest governing body is the Annual General Assembly. There are 5 members of Board of Directors elected by the General Assembly who serve for a period of 3 years for a maximum of two terms. The BOD steers the organisation and gives very useful guidance since all members are professionals in one or more of PDF-Africa’s program focus areas. The BOD sits for meetings quarterly to review plans and budgets but also to receive and analyse progress basing on reports. The secretariat has a team led by a Coordinator.
International and National theme days
There are a number of internationally and nationally recognised days that we put our efforts to commemorate with the rest of the world, annually. Key among these are: The UN International Day of Peace, The GuluWalk, International Youth Day, International Day of African Child, etc.
